Moving Data to a New Device

Your data can be backed up with your iCloud or to your computer. When you restore from a backup, either to a new device or the same device after a factory restore, your Weigh In data will be restored.

iCloud Backup

Your data can be backed up with your iCloud backup. When you restore from a backup, either to a new device or the same device after a factory restore, your Weigh In data will be restored.

These backups include your weight entries, targets and start weights and all of your settings.

Enable iCloud Backup

If you have iCloud backups enabled, Weigh In data should be backed up by default.

You can check iCloud enabled using the Settings app. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. “Back Up This iPhone” will be enabled.

To check your Weigh In data is being backed up, under the “All Device Backups” header, tap your device (it will show “This iPhone” under the device name). Once the list of apps has loaded, scroll down the list to find Weigh In. You may need to tap “Show All Apps”. Ensure the switch next to Weigh In is enabled.

Note that Weigh In backups are very small, so will not take up very much on your iCloud storage.

See the Apple support article “What does iCloud back up?” for more information.

Restore iCloud Backup

When you set up an iPhone, either from new or after a factory reset, you are prompted to transfer data or restore from a backup.

If you transfer your data from your old device, Weigh In data will be transferred with it.

If you restore from iCloud backup, your Weigh In data will be transferred, providing it was not excluded (see the section above).

Please see the Apple support article “Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup” which covers this process.

Backup and Restore Using a Computer

You can back up your iPhone to a computer, using Finder on a Mac or iTunes on Windows. This backup can then be used to restore data to a new device.

These Apple support articles cover this process.

CSV File

You can export your weight entries to the portable CSV format. Note that your target history cannot be exported currently. This file can be viewed in Excel or Numbers (or even a text editor) and can be imported back into the app or the same or other device.

Health App Data

If you don't have a backup of your data and are using a new device, weight data might be available in the Health App. This can be included in your Weigh In history and the graph.

See show Health App data for more information.
